The turf house was designed for extreme conditions for clients rebecca and indi waterstone both artists from edinburgh who recently realised a long cherished dream when they built their unique home on the northernmost tip of the isle of skye.

From certain angles the building recalls the low pitch agricultural sheds that pepper the rural landscape and in other views the drumlin land forms found throughout. This house sitting on the seaward side of the road at the very northern tip of skye was designed to minimise its overall visual impact and to withstand the extreme weather environment. The stone walls are nearly one metre thick making this a cosy and cocooning abode. The plan to build on skye took shape after a fruitless hunt for the perfect house.
